About Us
About Morris Cruise Night
Morris Cruise Night is a non-profit organization in Morris, IL established in 2002. What started as an idea from our founder, Herb Wyeth, of having a cruise night in Morris has grown substantially into one of the largest in the area. Years ago, there was a tradition in Morris called, “Buzzing the Gut”, which meant cruising Liberty Street. Our venue now includes not only Liberty Street (from Illinois Avenue north to the railroad tracks), and a block East & West. Every second Saturday of the month, from June through October, “Buzzing the Gut” is back! Over the past years of cruises, the numbers of cities/towns represented have continued to rise to a current total of 391 in which 70 have been from out of state. Our annual events average in excess of 8000 spectators.
We give back to the community by giving back as much as possible to local charities. Each year, we select one charitable organization and allow them to sell 50/50 raffle tickets and have a food booth at each Morris Cruise Night. The selection process is completed in January of each year. Details and application forms can be found in the beneficiary section of our website.
We are also committed to supporting the local merchants of Morris. No outside vendors are allowed. Plan to come early and visit historical downtown along with the many shops and restaurants. We are located between the Illinois River and Interstate 80 at Exit 112.
The Morris Cruise Night Committee is comprised of an all-volunteer, dedicated staff that works hard all year to make each event a success. Whether it is planning and organizing the events to working the day of the event, which includes set up, registration, parking, and traffic flow, we want to ensure the event is a success for both participants and spectators alike. If you would like to join the Morris Cruise Night Committee, please contact us. We always welcome new volunteers!
We proudly showcase cars, trucks, motorcycles and more! Stop by and check out the old classics, newest rides, muscle cars, tricked out and customized rides. There’s always something new to see. Stroll the streets at your leisure, listening to music, while you enjoy this fun, family oriented event.
